Product Description

If your dishwasher is not cleaning your dishes properly, is not draining, or is noisy while operating, there may be an issue with your chopper assembly. The chopper is used to mince up food particles in the dishwasher, which prevents them from clogging up the pump. If you need to replace the chopper, this is a genuine OEM assembly for your dishwasher. Before beginning this repair, be sure to disconnect the power to your dishwasher. You will need to remove both the upper and lower racks from the dishwasher in order to easily access the chopper assembly. You will need a number 15 and number 20 torque screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers to complete this repair.

We've had several warranty calls on this machine in the first year ... about 4-5 total. They did several small things before they changed the "motor" 6 months ago. This time the repair was out of warranty. The serviceman said it must be the intake pump motor this time. He said the repair would be over $400. My husband and I decided t hat we would pull the entire motor unit, because neither of us could see how they changed the motor 6 months ago without pulling the machine out from the wall. That is when it hit us that they must've just changed out the intake pump motor and not the motor itself the time before. When my husband handed me the motor to clean, I heard some metal clinking around inside it. I opened it up and found the chopper assembly in pieces. No wonder the top sprayer wasn't spinning and the dishes weren't getting clean. The actual job would've taken about half the time that it did, because the part could've easily been replaced without pulling the unit out. We changed the soil sensor/thermistor assembly just because we figured it couldn't hurt to change it too.

Not cleaning well, especially the upper rack.
Based on troubleshooting guidance from this site, ordered 3 parts: middle and top spray arms, and a chopper. Removed upper rack and flipped it over to get to the middle spray arm. Removed a single screw to remove the spray arm an replace. Noticed a small hole in the manifold that supplies water to the middle spray arm. (Will need replaci ng soon.) That was the easy part. We have very hard municiple water that has left a lot of mineral deposits, even with regular use of cleaning tablets. So, the upper sprayer also needed to be replaced: it was not spinning freely. This required removing the feed tube for the top sprayer enough to pop the sprayer off. (There is a video describing how to do this.) Because the chopper was also being replaced the whole sprayer feed tube needed to be removed. Between the videos and the part diagrams I was able to get down to the chopper protector, but removing the screw did not "free up" the protector. The minerals from the hard water nearly "welded" it in place. Was finally able to carefully pry it up from the screw tab with a paint can opener. The chopper had come apart and the chopper's screen was almost completely clogged with gunk. Replaced the chopper and reassembled. Also, all through the whole repair process I did a lot of scraping and soaking with white vinegar to get a lot of the mineral deposits off areas exposed during the repair, though not neArly all deposit. The site was a great help. Thanks to all who contributed.

Top tray not clean-spotty residue on dishes and glasses
The discharge hose was replaced, the original was loaded with residue but not blocked. Next I checked the possible parts to cause the problem-ordered and replaced. I did use a device, small wooden shim to assist installing the chopper. It was used to depress the spring during the installation.

Dishwasher would not clean the dishes
I could not repair the dishwasher, I changed the Chopper, the Latch, and another part recommended by the website. I have decided to buy a new washer. If your washer is over 5 years old, it is not worth the time and effort to fix it. By the way, it takes 7 to 10 days for the parts to arrive. It took a month for me to figure out that I could not fix it. Good luck.

The chopper part/gear that engages the motor drive stripped causing a food clog and no water flow resulting in dirty dishes
Remove all racks and the bottome spinning sprayer. The sprayer comes off using pliers on the tab in the middle of the rotating sprayer arms it spins off clockwise I believe And drops out of the bottom of the sprayer assembly remove the plastic top/back/bottom spray assembly by popping it from the rear and top metal clips. Then tilt forwa rds to clear the clips and rotate the entire c shaped spray assembly clockwise approx 45 degrees until it disengages from the bottoms strainer assembly tabs. Next remove four torx/start bits from the strainer and gently pry it upwards while wiggling. The next step can be tricky if funky water is left in the bottom so it is best to try and soak the water up to see the next torx screw on the left of the grinder strainer. This strainer then tilts up from the left towards the right on a hinge like tab. The grinder assembly should then tilt forwards and lift out easily. Be careful to properly seat the new grinder into the groove at the bottom of the grinder Inlet and make sure it is free of debris. Use a needle nose pliers to hold the spring/gear outwards towards the grinder plate in order to em guage the gears easier. Assembly is the reverse of the steps then with care taken not to strip and plastic screw holes.

water pressure was too low
I purchased the pump and motor assembly just to be sure, but only the intake filter was plugged and the chopper blade push nut fell off. So I returned the whole unit $170 and purchased just the chopper assembly $15. The installation was easy, and the videos really helped. The screen was covered in a stringy fat from some meat source. How it got past the holes in the intake cover plate at the bottom of the dishwasher lord only knows. We usually rinse our dishes anyway. It was a great outcome: it was $28 with all, instead of two repairman visits at $300 apiece. Please put the part number in, I'm at work and the order was emailed from home.

Very loud noise when pump ran in wash cycle
First I called a repairman to fix this and waited a week, had an appoitment for a Thursday afternoon and he never showed up. While I was waiting I googled the model number and noise in pump and the site came up with a video on how to change the motor along with other coments from others who have had the same issue. I went in and in under 3 0 minutes had it out and ordered a new pump and chopper assembly. I selected a two day shiping and in showed up on Monday, after dinner I installed and had it running that evening, and did our dishes that night...Thank you you saved me a $45.00 house call and a $65.00 labor cost.
