This charcoal air filter is a genuine OEM replacement part for your refrigerator. The charcoal filter absorbs food odors, which in turn helps to ensure your ice tastes better. Ice tends to absorb smells, so if you notice a change in taste, it may be time to replace the filter. The filter should be changed at least every six months, or more often if you tend to store more fragrant food like onions. No tools are required to replace this part.

Freezer quit working after power outage
Tried to get the Appliance store to accept me dropping off freezer, they would not. Only way to repair was $90 arrival fee, plus troubleshooting and parts. Probably $300+ job. I looked at back of freezer and saw there are only probably 3 things that could go wrong. With internet help, I decided it was probably the Run-Capacitor and or Compressor controller. So I ordered both. Unplugged the old one, plugged in the new one, and for $50 I got my nearly new freezer working again. Thanks! Read more...

If your refrigerator is not maintaining a consistent temperature, or there is frost building up, you may need to replace the defrost timer. The 120V defrost timer is a genuine OEM part that acts like a clock, and continuously cycles through a cooling and defrost setting. It does this to maintain the desired temperature and prevent frost from building up, which would decrease the efficiency of your fridge. You can use a multimeter to test if the timer is defective. Please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your fridge before beginning this repair. Depending on your model, the defrost timer can be found either on the ceiling or rear panel of the refrigerator.

Lost freezer key and door was locked and frozen from the inside
The key would not work, but unplugged the freezer and moved it outside where it could thaw out. After the freezer thawed out, the door could move and the key could then turn the latch. When we moved the freezer and jiggle it from side to side, it also loosened up the door. Read more...

If you have frost building up in your freezer, or the temperature in your fridge is running too warm, there may be an issue with the defrost thermostat. This thermostat sits on the top of the evaporator and protects it from overheating when the defrost cycle is running. It does this by regulating the temperature in your appliance, and should shut off the heater once the frost has melted off the coils. If you need a new thermostat, this is a genuine OEM replacement part. Please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your fridge before beginning this repair.

The gasket for your freezer door is used to provide a tight seal, preventing the cold air from escaping and warm room-temperature air from getting inside the freezer. If the gasket becomes torn, cracked, or otherwise damaged, that seal is compromised, and the gasket will not work as intended. Signs that you need to replace the gasket include sweat or condensation on the freezer door, frost buildup, inconsistent temperatures, and the door not sealing shut properly. This is a genuine OEM replacement gasket that is white in color.
