The ice maker assembly makes ice by filling the tray with water from the inlet valve, freezing it until solid cubes are formed, and then ejecting them into the ice bucket. This process will repeat until the bucket has reached capacity. If your fridge is no longer making ice, the assembly may need to be replaced. This is a genuine OEM replacement that measures 10 inches by 5 inches in size and will make seven crescent shaped pieces of ice each cycle. The kit is mainly made of white plastic, and includes a 4-pin round plug-in connector, a 6-post plug-in connector, tube, and fill cup. Depending on your frequency of use, the ice maker may need to be replaced every three to ten years. Regular wear and tear is the main reason this part may need to be replaced but be mindful of accidental damage.

Super easy. Loosen 2 screws. Disconnect power line. Take out broken part and plug in new part then slide icemaker back in place and tighten 2 screws. Saved me the $89 service call plus whatever they would have overcharged for the part! And no waiting around for repair guy! Read more...

The crisper drawer cover contains the rails that your crisper drawers slide in and out on, as well as acting as a shelf to store other items in your fridge. If your drawers are difficult to open and close, or the cover has any visible signs of damage, it should be replaced so that your crispers continue to function as intended. This is an easy repair that does not require any tools. Simply remove the crisper drawers, then lift out the cover. Place the new cover in the fridge, and reinstall the crisper drawers. Carefully check to ensure that your fridge door will close properly, and you are all set. Please note that this part may look different than the original one you are replacing, but it is a genuine OEM part that will work with your refrigerator. The crisper drawer cover is made of plastic and is white in color.

Light Switch

FIX8758429
Manufacturer Part Number
WR23X10725
The light switch in your refrigerator is used to turn the light on and off when the fridge door opens or closes. This is considered a closed switch, which means that when the fridge door depresses the button there is no continuity and the light turns off. When the fridge door opens and the button is released, there is continuity, and the light turns on. If the light in your fridge is not burned out but will not come on, the switch may need to be replaced. This genuine OEM replacement light switch is spring loaded and made of a white plastic. This is an easy repair that will require a flat blade screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers to complete the job. Since you will be working with electrical components, please be sure to disconnect the power supply to your fridge before beginning this repair.

The end cap is used to hold the retainer bar on the fridge door in place. This genuine OEM part is made of white plastic and can be used for either the left or righthand side of the bar. Needed to replace freezer gasket.
The old gasket peeled off starting at the upper right corner. There was no need to unscrew anything as the metal track remained in place. The new gasket just had to be snapped into the existing track. The hard part if if you haven't the strength in your thumbs to press the gasket with enough pressure to snap it in. I don't have the strength so I used a pistol clamp. That worked and the gasket is on and working/ Read more...

plastic tubing split, caused water leak
Note: That this repair was done on the old design with the threaded connections on the inlet water valve. The replacement valve has compression fittings. 5/16 water line gave up at the water inlet valve. First fixed 2yrs ago. was able to cut off enough damaged line and pull out the slack and got it back in and socked it down no leaks. 2nd leak this time same brittle old line gave up again. Replaced the 5/16 line. from inlet valve. I cut the head off a bolt that barely fit in both old and new tube ends. Removed tube guide inside behind bottom bin and pulled old line until new line showed up spliced in union. Did have to remove inlet water valve this time to assure good connection. Because you can't buy a new 5/16 nut for that valve you have to make the old one work or you might be forced to buy a new inlet valve too. At which point the 1/4 ice line gave up. Repeated fix #1 on 1/4 line. reinstalled no leaks. Should have just done them both at same time. Did just order 1/4 line, 1/4 nut and fill tube grommet. Read more...

Right refrigerator door not shutting correctly without assistance..
Our refrigerator is a double door unit with ice and water in the left door. The right door was the one with the problem. First, I removed all items on the door shelves and the shelves themselves to reduce the weight of the door. Second, the plastic lower front grill that covers the lower hinge had to be removed to allow me to eventually get to the hinge bolts.. That grill is held at the ends by spring clamps, which pop out fairly easy.. -- Third, I placed several books under the door, so when the screws were removed, the door would still be resting on the books.. Fourth, I removed the cover on the top hinge assembly and removed the two screws that secured that hinge. Fifth, I lifted the door from the bottom hinge assembly and placed the door horizontally on the kitchen table to allow easier access to the bottom of the door. I then removed two screws from the bottom of the door, which holds the door closing cam and shims in place and replaced them with the new parts. Next was to removed the old hinge assembly on the bottom of the refrigerator and replace it with a new hinge assembly. Time to reinstall the door, aligning the bottom of the door cam over the hinge assembly and setting the door down on it making sure the door sets in the hinge assembly cams. Back to the top of the refrigerator, reinstalled the top door hinge assembly and cover.. Finally, pop the front grill back on to the lower part of the refrigerator, job complete. Total time from start to finish including cleaning the inside of the door and shelves about 30 minutes. Read more...

Cockroaches getting into the refrigerator
I used hot water from the tab (it gets really hot) to heat the gasket so it would be flexible and easier to install. I inserted the 'zipper' part of the gasket into the groove in the ref. door and slide the gasket around the door. It was quick and easy. There were still a few waves in the gasket but they came out by the afternoon. Read more...
