oven igniter lights but refuses to ignite the gas

Our 20 year old wall oven stopped turning on. It was still getting power and gas, but while the igniter would glow, it would not be enough to the gas. After confirming online, I decided that the igniter needed replacing. Replacing it was simple, except for one part. After turning off the power and gas, I unscrewed the igniter (two screws) and pulled it away from the back wall of the oven. The igniter is powered via a simple plug, but the wires were very tight, so as I pulled, the plug separated, and the main power went back inside the oven wall.
