Hi Michael, Thank you for your question. Before beginning this repair, make sure that the log splitter has been unplugged and release the pressure in the valve assembly. Also, place the log splitter on a tray to catch any oil that may come out. Then loosen the cylinder bolt. Then remove the handle over the ram. Then slowly pull the ram valve out. To install the new ram valve, push the new valve into place. Then tighten the cylinder bolt and reassemble the handle. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!

How do bleed air out of hydraulic system
For model number RY49701
Fix.com logo
Hello George, Thank you for your inquiry. To bleed or purge the air out, you need to extend the piston rod to its maximum length and remove the oil filling plug. After that, twist the release screw in a counterclockwise motion as fast as you can. This will make the piston rod to draw back into the cylinder, which will release the trapped air. When purging the cylinder, please stay clear from the piston rod and use your protective gear. We hope this helps.
